As a side note, I have an upper respiratory infection and am not supposed to be talking much because I am losing my voice and can basically only whisper.

Ha! This is funny. I hope you get better soon so you can talk 2x as much to make up for lost time ;)
Next time he wants to talk....mums the word. Practice sign language, or get an white eraser board.
